Because No Family Should Face Tragedy Alone
Every two days in Australia, a worker dies on the job.
Behind every statistic is a family left to navigate unimaginable grief, financial stress, and a broken system that offers little in the way of immediate support.
Christopher’s Story
Christopher Cassaniti was kind, funny, hardworking, and full of dreams. At just 18 years old, he had already started working in construction, eager to build a future. He loved his family deeply, lit up every room, and had so much life still to live.
On 1 April 2019, Christopher was working on a construction site in Sydney when the scaffold around him collapsed. In an instant, everything changed.
The grief was unbearable — and alongside it came confusion, legal processes, media attention, and the everyday weight of surviving such profound loss.
From the immense pain, we found clarity: no family should face this kind of tragedy without support.
The Touched by Christopher Foundation exists to honour Christopher’s memory by easing the burden for other families in their darkest moments, families who, like us, suddenly lose someone they love to a workplace incident.
We provide crucial financial assistance to grieving families including:
3 months’ worth of groceries
$1,500 for utilities
$5,000 towards rent/mortgage
This assistance is crucial to enable families and loved ones to grieve without the additional financial burden adding stress or requiring premature return to work.
